[Laptop] No sound from built in speakers

Post by greatpuuma »

Ok I've been at this for days now. I've different OS, done ever sudo I can think of and still no sound. I do get sound from my headphone when I plug it in. but my MSI GE - 75 Raider with intel 10th gen with RTX 2060 laptop gets no sound from speakers. I've followed this link viewtopic.php?f=48&t=332208 still nothing. what is going on? is this a bad batch of OS? I'm thinking of going back to windows since the speakers work. can anyone fix this?

Please generate an overview of your system like this:
- Launch a terminal window (this is how to launch a terminal window);
- Make the terminal window full screen, to avoid chopped lines;
- Copy/paste this command into the terminal:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxpmrz
(if you type: the letter F is a capital letter, and don't omit the space after inxi!)

Press Enter.

Copy/paste the output in your next message.

Hi greatpuuma, and welcome to the forum.

We'll probably need to see the output of this command:

Code: Select all

curl https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/raw/master/src/utils/pa-info?inline=false | bash | nc termbin.com 9999
That will have a URL on the last line of output pointing to your sound setup. That should help in diagnosing the issue, as well as spotting any damage you may have done, not knowing what "every sudo you can think of" might have been.

Okay, just to make sure it's not easily solvable, play something with sound with the headphones unplugged and run these and paste the outputs:

Code: Select all

pacmd list-sinks

Code: Select all

amixer

Okay, see if this makes the sound come from the speakers. With the same setup, i.e. no headphones plugged in, run this:

Code: Select all

amixer set Headphone 100%
That works for some.

That's just a weird quirk on some systems. To prevent you from having to do that with every change and reboot, let me find the edit to automate this.
