No sound when connecting headphones

Hi there !! I recently installed linux mint 20.1. It is the only OS i am using right now. I cannot hear anything once I connect the headphones to the computer. I have tried diffferent solutions from other posts. For example, installing pavucontrol and checking sound settings from there. Also I have tried modifying alsa-base.conf, including a line with:

You can use a y jack splitter cable with an extension taking sound from behind the case. I did so when my front panel was totally broken on an old case.

Let's get a look at your sound setup with this command:

The last line of output will have a URL pointing to the info. Pasting that URL is all I need.

That output makes it appear that headphones were not connected when you ran it. Was that the case? If so, please run it again with the headphones connected.

Okay, I'd revert the inv-dmic change you made first. Also, see if disabling Loopback Mixing in alsamixer makes any difference. If after rebooting after those changes still hasn't helped try this followed by a full shutdown for a few minutes:

As far as I can tell, everything is normal there. The only suggestion I can make here is we can try retasking another pin to the headphones and see if that helps.

First, let's undo the last change with this followed by a reboot:

sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-realtek.conf

Next, install alsa-tools-gui so you can run HDAJackRetask. When it opens, check the box for Show unconnected pins then the Override box for 0x15 and set that one to Not connected. Now try another not connected pin by checking it's Override box and changing it to Headphones if possible. I believe 0x16 is a good candidate to try first. Once a new pin is set to Headphones, click on Install boot override then reboot and test the headphones.

If it didn't help, undo the change to 0x16, and find another not connected pin that can be set to Headphones.
