Sound Stops Working Mid-Session

Post by flmc »

Hello. I'm using Linux Mint 20.1, 64bit. Recently, my sound will stop working, and this loss of sound seems to occur when I'm away from my machine. A reboot will solve the problem, but inevitably I will lose sound again.

I have a Sound Blaster Audigy card installed, and I have a DAC that I basically use as a splitter for speakers and headphones. In the Sound Settings panel, I've noticed the existence of a new device after sound fails that is *not* there on initial boot: "Headphones Sound Core3D". I'm usually just using the "Line Out Sound Core3D" device, which is still there when the sound goes out.

Audio section from inxi:

Code: Select all

Audio: Device-1: Creative Labs Sound Core3D [Sound Blaster Recon3D / Z-Series] driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel
bus ID: 06:00.0 chip ID: 1102:0012

Looking through the logs, I found this possibly relevant section:

I've read through the forums a bit and tried a few of the solutions suggested with other sound issues. Restarting pulseaudio doesn't seem to have any effect, nor does deleting its config directory. Nothing appears to be muted.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
