Odd sound problem with 20.1

Post by qett »

Hi, I've been running 20.1 for a few months now with no issues.

Recently I found that occasionally my sound gets very weird, I've been restarting to fix it.

It seems to mess with all video sounds, by bringing the background noise up and the main track or whatever down, so that the voiceover is hard to hear.

This happens with video (celluloid), and in firefox at least, twitter, youtube.

Any advice on this? Would like to avoid restarts.

I had problems with it too. I just installed VLC for video and Audacious for music and audio books

See that post for what you need to provide. The terminal output of inxi -Fxz is needed also. When you post output from a terminal, enclose it in code tags
output.here
. You'll see the code tags icon </> when you reply.

Thanks everyone, I will post the output later today, and I will have to wait until it happens again and then i will post the output again.

It could just be a transient problem, but it's happened at least twice now.

Ok its happened again finally. Not every video or audio will be messed up, but some very clearly are, when they have kind of noisy background music with an overlay of narration.

I also notice a clicking sound that happens sort of randomly, like when scrolling or opening a new tab, just one click but it happens regularly. I've heard that clicking before but didn't notice any audio issues then. I assume they are related but not sure of course.

Any feedback is welcome

I have this same problem
I also notice a clicking sound that happens sort of randomly, like when scrolling or opening a new tab, just one click but it happens regularly. I've heard that clicking before but didn't notice any audio issues then. I assume they are related but not sure of course.
but in 19.3 after fresh installation. I've using 19.3 since a long time now , and never have this issue before. Just now after new and fresh installation. I took advantage of this topic after opening a new one. Hope this is ok though my LM is a different edition.
