alsactl restore not working for a standard user

Post by travm »

I have added a standard user with no password log in. This user is not a member of sudo.
I have run;

Code: Select all

su admin
sudo alsamixer (made the changes needed)
sudo alsactl store
I then confirmed that asound.state has updated

on reboot the sound resets. But asound.state is still correct.
If i switch users again and run sudo alsactl restore it loads the correct volumes, but still resets on reboot.

I have tried adding alsactl restore to /home/user/.bashrc
I also tried having alsactl restore run on startup using the gui. Neither works. I also ran sudo chmod 666 /var/lib/whateverthecorrectpathis/asound.state
How do I get this file to be loaded on boot for a standard user?
