(Solved) No Audio, no cards in config & only dummy output

Post by Jabroni »

Greetings everyone,
I justed installed linux mint this week. When I try to use anything in linux with sound it is totally silent. I have googled different topics in regards to only dummy output showing in PAVU, tried all the different suggestions online that I found with no success. When I run the command to see my information it says no audio card installed. https://itsfoss.com/fix-sound-ubuntu-1304-quick-tip/ https://linuxhint.com/troubleshoot_linu ... _no_sound/ I have tried multiple different options from the links above as well as other links i've come across. Still after i reboot just seeing dummy output audio and under configurations there are no options. I have noticed when i run alsamixer it comes back with no such file/dirctory cannot open. When I run inxi -F i see System:

Ok I want to make sure I am seeing this right so please type the following command see what is listed. if this command outputs nothing than I think your sound device is dead. I do not see any sound device listed on the lspci -v output. This new command will list any it detects.

arecord -l

Looks like the sound card is dead. Cause its not detecting the device ID. Hope its still on warranty.

If it came with windows 10 and you changed it to Linux Mint Dell may not cover it.

I talked to Dell they said to run a test. It seems to have checked my audio on windows which I have nor problem. They said the problem is with the software Mint. On thing I noticed is on my Oracle VM if i look at the details under audio it says disabled. Here is a screenshot. Not sure how to change to enable audio.

On the pic above you have selected the top left foundations which is powered off so there will be no sound active there. The one running called parrot is running click on that one and see if the sound is disabled.

Try this
I am curious did you try the driver manager in Linux Mint to see if would detect if a driver was needed? Look under administration in the panel menu.

On windows I would like you to check the sound information from windows 10

Press Windows+R to display Run, input devmgmt.msc and tap OK.

Once device manager loads Click the sound on the left panel see what brand it states? Online specs state realtek ALC328.
Locked

Return to “Sound”
