No headphone output

Post by matai »

Previously, my hardware was running audio output through the headphones under "BionicPuppy-64". I updated the OS to get the printer working. No audio. That was LMDE 4. From suggestion that the kernel wasn't a working revision for ALSA, I changed the OS to LM 20.1 Cinnamon 64-bit". No Audio.. Understand that I had to defeat UEFI for a defect that was causing damage to USB sticks. I boot "Legacy" and CMOS is set to "Windows"... (No CMOS settings were changed when "Puppy" was abandonned.)

=Cycling power (after it was working, Using MrEem's "TIPs") shut it down again. Still no audio. Tried to get it to work again with the same steps...
(NOTE: I uninstalled "Timeshift" as I thought it contributed to variables about power-down/up state of the sound drivers..)

Hi matai,

your hardware seems a little bit exotic (Tiny or NUC ?): Celeron J / Atom / 2 giga ethernet ports ???
which CPU exactly is built in (not the detected one) ?
--> checked (release notes) if Celeron J...) is supported at all ?

unfortunately there are some other points missing / description too short:
hd partitioning scheme mbr or gpt ?
csm (legacy) boot or UEFI ? settings in BIOS (CSM-UEFI-both) ?
multiboot environment ? LM is on sda5 ?
LM version (with multimedia codecs) ?
audio output: via 3,5mm jack ?
which software for audio output (test with...) ?

have you checked if all built-in HW components are detected ok (HDA audio) ?
HW in BIOS enabled ?
what about specific drivers like Intel... - installed ?
ALSA: only std. driver installed or gnome-alsa-mixer ? mixer settings ?
...
