[SOLVED] Built-in speaker only works with plugged audio peripheral.

Post by Theogtm »

I'm not used to linux mint yet and I have a weird issue here, the build-in speakers of laptop only works when I plug any audio peripheral like a headphone, without this I have no sound. Basically with no peripheral I have no sound and with them the the sound comes out simultaneously from the internal speaker and the peripheral, apparently the speaker is recognized as a headphone. Can someone help me? Sorry for not sending more info but it's because i really don't know what to send.

*note in the attached image there's nothing plugged

Hi. Welcome to the forums.
try this:
Press ctrl+alt+t and in that terminal window type:
alsamixer
That will open a graphical window showing settings for headphone/speaker
levels. Try adjusting those slider controls.
Use the arrow buttons to scroll to the far right to see more settings for muting, etc.
Everything in life was difficult before it became easy.

Thank you for the answer, apparently https://community.linuxmint.com/softwar ... avucontrol solved it. I tried some fixes but apparently I didn't had the pavucontrol at all. Sorry for wasting your time.
