LM 20.2 - No sound through headphones or built-in speakers

Post by gwking »

Hello, I am in the process of setting up a new laptop with Linux Mint 20.2 Cinnamon (updated from 20.1 earlier today). I currently have no sound through my speakers and it is not recognising my headphones anymore (which it previously was and playing audio through successfully)

For the timeline of what has happened:
  • Built-in speakers not working (not 100% on this) but headphones okay
  • Updated to 20.2
  • Headphones still okay, built-in speakers still not working
  • Made a long list of updates through Update Manager
  • Headphones no longer recognised and no sound through either headphones or speakers

As requested in other threads:

Output of inxi -Fxxxrz

Any ideas what is going on? And if any other details from the terminal would be useful to know, let me know and I'll grab if you for to take a look at.

As an update... I booted up the laptop today and the headphones are recognised and are working again, despite me having done nothing.

I still have no audio through the built-in speakers, however.
