HDMI audio passthrough - ALSA errors -

Post by perry_65 »

I've upgrade my audio AVR to one that support HDMI audio in that is able to accept EAC3, DTS-HD and dolby trueHD and all kind of issues arise. some times works, some times doesn't. MPV is my first choice to play movies. If I use VLC, audio pass-through over HDMI work in mostly all audio codec. Systems reports as follow

Playing music from audacious or any other audio player works as expected, same for web browser (youtube, etc).

MPV log shows the following error

(+) Video --vid=1 (*) (h264 1920x800 23.976fps)
(+) Audio --aid=1 --alang=eng (*) (eac3 6ch 48000Hz)
Subs --sid=1 --slang=eng 'English' (subrip)
Subs --sid=2 --slang=spa (*) (subrip)
(+) Subs --sid=3 --slang=spa (f) (subrip)
Using hardware decoding (vdpau).

lines starting with ALSA are the problematic ones. When audio works (I don't know why, I tried to find a pattern in audio behavior but I can't) these two lines are gone. I search for this issue but there not much info related.

PS: I made a fresh install of LM20.2 on a new SSD and install all related software (MPV, pavucontrol, smplayer, ffmpeg, NVIDIA drivers, kernel same as in LM 19.3) and get the same output in log and no sound at all.
