Linux mint 20.2 not recognising microphone in bluetooth headset or wired unit

Hi all I have this annoying problem I have Linux mint 20.2 on a laptop and Pc neither system recognises the microphones in the headsets wired and bluetooth. when i plug a camera into the PC the mic comes up as the camera( which i found out has a mic) when I take the camera out it says no input device even when a wired headset is connected. Its getting very frustrating did not have this problem before also I cannot get HSP/HFP to work I really need to use a mic especially for zoom meetings and other purposes

Any assistance is greatly appreciated
