Having looked through the Forum I can see a few users with this issue, i.e., audio becoming distorted, scratchy, sounded like it is through a straw - seemingly at random.
viewtopic.php?f=48&t=339719&p=1952244&h ... w#p1952244 (Sorry for the link description, that's how I had to find it from memory)
I have tried the command:
pulseaudio -k
which seems to work on a temporary basis and also deleting the files in /home/YourUserName/.config/pulse before running pulseaudio -k as suggested by MrEen. I also saw the note about increasing the priority for audio but I wasn't sure how to do that and I didn't want to break anything with my IDJC/JACK set up for broadcasting radio. I'm also at a loss when it's just started happening - I did upgrade to 20.2 (which I could see might cause a problem) but then rolled back to 19.3 because I was having other problems - but now the cracking has started there also.
Thank you
Kyle

I have no idea if I can fix this but there's no useful system info there to go on. Copy/paste the text output of inxi -Fxxxrz run in the terminal.
