I did some searching on the forums and found the below. It works for few minutes then back to echo, hissing and scratches.

This machine has always been used as a media device running Ubuntu so I know the hardware and networking is ok.
It's something to do with LM and I don't know how to fix it. Can someone help please.
the setup is the graphics card HDMI is hooked into my tv set's Hdmi slot. I don't have any other audio equipment.
