No sound after adjusting volume

Post by nilrehob »

I just bought an Intel NUC BXNUC10I7FNKN. It has no analog sound so I got an Acer 12 port mini Dock that gives me 3.5 mm audio along with two hdmi and all kinds of stuff.

If I remember correctly sound worked right away when I plugged it in, but the volume was to hight so I tried to adjust it, then it died.

After browsing around the forum I tried to reinstall some pulseaudio-package, not sure wich one, but that made things worse, so I reinstalled the system from scratch with the Acer Dock plugged in hoping it would be recognized and be properly setup. It did work, but when I tried to adjust the volume it died again.

(I have also connected a second display through the Acer Dock. It works after I adjust the resolution lower and then back. It has to be done every time I boot the system. But this is for another post I guess)

The Logs tells me this:

Code: Select all

Failed to load module "module-alsa-card" (argument: "device_id="0" name="pci-0000_00_1f.3" card_name="alsa_card.pci-0000_00_1f.3" namereg_fail=false tsched=yes fixed_latency_range=no ignore_dB=no deferred_volume=yes use_ucm=yes avoid_resampling=no card_properties="module-udev-detect.discovered=1""): initialization failed.
If I run inxi -Fxxxrz I get

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxxxrz

Re: No sound after adjusting volume

Post by nilrehob »

By running alsamixer i can select the usb-card.
The volume is zero. When changed it goes directly to 100.
If I try to change volume in alsamixer it goes up again.
If I try to change it in the usual GUI mixer sound dies again and I have to go back to alsamixer and select the usb-card.
