I recently installed Linux Mint Mate 20.3 on a Chromebook x360 c14. After installing it, the only audio device available is Dummy Audio, unless I connect a bluetooth device, then the audio device will automatically swap to that and I will have sound.

Unfortunately I dont have a solution for you but I have the exact problem and I too downloaded on a chromebook have you been able to find a solution.

I had to do a sudo alsa force-reload for it to work(reboot)....after another reboot, lost sound again????
