Analog Subwoofer Question

Post by timmn1 »

I just connected a subwoofer to the subwoofer analog output on my motherboard, I also have a pair of powered speakers connected to the line out jack. So I changed the settings in Sound Settings to Analog Surround 2.1. When I go to test sound, the left and right channels work and the subwoofer rumbles. The problem is that when I go to play music, the subwoofer has no output. This is where it gets strange, if I set the settings to Analog Stereo Output, the subwoofer works. The best part of this is there is no icon for the subwoofer when I select Analog Stereo Output. Presently, I'm running Mint 21 but it was also happening in 20.3 Is there something wrong or should I just be happy it works?

Here is the output from inxi:

Someday, maybe I'll figure out exactly what the hell I'm doing.
