[SOLVED] Need help (guidance) with surround

Post by MysteryMachine »

Hello everyone,
I'm In need for some help and have 2 questions.

First
I have set up my 5.1 surround, I used HDAJackRetask and mapped all speakers and when I test in sound settings everything works. When i try to play any movie with 5.1 in (i tried VLC,Celluloid and Kodi) rear speakers do not work in any movie and in any player. Can something be done with that? If not that's ok I'll join front/back left and front/back right to output same sound. When i set audio source to original in VLC i have output on LFE/central and front but not back speakers.

Second and more important to me if i try and play anything from browser i only get 2.0 output (no LFE) I don't mind writing some scripts or programs but honestly I don't know where to start with this one on Windows only edge has surround output but i would rather shot myself in foot than use windows for that only hah.
If i could get 2.1 on browser that would be great
Thanks everyone in advance

By the way Device 2 is used for audio

Solved, if anyone has the same problem put rear speakers as side surround and map any available port to back ones. 99% of movies/shows are encoded for left/right front, center, lfe and left/right surround and not left/right back

I've really never had a surround system, but when I've rip/transcoded my DVDs, any ones that used 5.1 I've kept as 5.1 and upgraded the audio data rates for the transcode to something on par (or close) with what was on the DVD itself. I've always wanted to try out some of those movies on an actual surround sound rig.
