How does LM have all the codecs?

Postby jacatone » Tue Feb 02, 2010 3:40 pm

Was helping someone the other day with their Ubuntu 9.10 install, and noticed that distro still doesn't have the necessary codecs for audio and video. How does LM get around that issue? Thanks.

Linux Mint is produced in a country that does not recognize software patents, so it's not an issue. It is up to you as the user to determine if it is legal for you to use Linux Mint in your country. In practice most people don't care either way. I know I sure don't. For those that do there is a universal edition of Mint that does not have the audio/video codecs installed by default.
