[Solved] mozilla-mplayer in Firefox 3 Beta 2

Postby rzrgenesys187 » Wed Jan 16, 2008 9:13 pm

Hi everyone,
First I just wanted to say Mint is fantastic, just switched as a long time Ubuntu user and Mint is phenomenal. Anyways, I was wondering how to get mozilla-mplayer installed, if it is possible, for the Beta. The way I installed the beta was just to untar the executable binary and move it to my home folder now named .firefox3_beta2. Is it possible to get mozilla-mplayer installed for the location of this folder? I don't want to get rid of my other firefox in case of problems so I would like this folder to stay where it is. The only thing I've tried thus far was to dpkg-reconfigure mozilla-mplayer to no result.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance.

I am not sure how much is changed in Firefox 3, but I am guessing it will require a new plugin for mplayer. Found this on google, glanced through it, did not see any mention of mplayer, though...

I saw that page, but my goal was to keep Firefox as well as the beta version installed

Edit this for your system.(replace USERNAME with your user name for that install)

Code: Select all

cp /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/* /home/USERNAME/.firefox3_beta2/plugins/

The plugins are just links to the real file, located else where.
