Audio Device not seen <SOLVED>

Post by Walltumbler » Thu Nov 08, 2018 6:22 pm

Hello,

I have a Acer Aspire V Nitro. I was trying to get my sound to function. I tried fllowing the instructions on the thread here: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=244318

I made some error while using hdajackretask and now Mint does not recognize any audio device. Worst still now Windows does not recognize an installed Audio device on my laptop. I really need help on this one. I can't use either of my operating systems now. Please Help.

Ok.. some good news, I found this tread here https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxquestions ... p_working/

It explains that while the software writes to the Firmware of the audio, once you power down that data disappears. Which is what happens in my case. However. Mint remains the same. It does not recognize the hardwares existence at all. Thinking about upgrading to Mint 19. What do you think?

Let's see the output of each of the following:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz

Code: Select all

aplay -l

Code: Select all

dmesg | grep snd
Then we should be able to figure out the next step.

Hey thanks for the offer of help! I just did a fresh install of Linux and that seemed to fix the issue.
