[SOLVED]Bluetooth Adapter is not supported

Post by Ragult »

Hello Community,
last week I started testing out Linux on my Laptop. I started with Ubuntu and everything (Bluetooth) worked. Now I found Linux Mint and I really like it. Unfortunately the Bluetooth doesnt work on it. I tried several things, I found on the Internet but nothing worked. One of the solutions were installing Blueman, but this also didnt work out. The only thing is, that Blueman gave me an Error: "No adapter found".

Because I am still a newbie, I dont know what informations you need to help me, so please ask for it :D

This might be helpful:

lsusb | grep Bluetooth:

Code: Select all

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0cf3:3004 Atheros Communications, Inc. AR3012 Bluetooth 4.0
Thanks for helping me out.

Re: Bluetooth Adapter is not supported

Post by JeremyB »

You might have to do like I have

Code: Select all

echo "blacklist btusb" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/bluetooth.conf
echo "blacklist ath3k" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/bluetooth.conf
Then after you reboot do

Code: Select all

sudo modprobe ath3k
sudo modprobe btusb

After I executed the first 2 commands i rebooted my laptop. But the last 2 commands gave me the following message:

Code: Select all

modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'ath3k': Operation not permitted

Code: Select all

modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'btusb': Operation not permitted
Did I do something wrong? I executed them with sudo so I should be permitted, shouldn't I?

Re: [SOLVED]Bluetooth Adapter is not supported

Post by JeremyB »

If you want to test something,

Code: Select all

sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/bluetooth.conf
See if it still works. If it doesn't blacklist the 2 modules again, I think I only need that because I use a SSD and this thing boots too fast and ath3k is trying to load firmware before it should

Yeah, it works without the bluetooth.conf file as well. Thank you again :D
