LM 20.3 Mate: System randomly freezing

Post by astsu »

Reviving this thread, did you find a good solution. Mine is also exactly the same problem.I am on MATE desktop. First time happened when I was opening a video file using vlc and second time when I was opening a docx file.I always run qbittorrent v4.3.9 whenever my machine is on and it was on both time when freezes happened. Similar to OP, I also don't know which log file to view.
P.S the system frequently randomly freezes for 5-10 sec too.

Try this:
Update Manager - panel: View - Linux kernels
Install the latest kernel of the 5.15 series. Then reboot and test.

Thank you for replying. I would to apologize to the mods for posting on another user thread. Won't happen in the future. Will try the new kernel and post my findings here.

The system has stopped hard freezing so far. Small freezing for 5-10 seconds occurs occasionally. But the 5.15 kernel introduced another issue. The screen is flickering from time to time.
