<SOLVED>Mint20.2 Driver for TP-Link T2U V3 Wifi dongle.

Post by louarnold »

I converted from Mint v19.3 to v202. with a full install from an IS0 on CD. The T2U driver worked fine with v19.3, but I am not sure how I managed to get it installed. Now the Wifi won't work any more. and I can't see a solution.

The ethernet connection works but its for temporary use. The wires are a quick drop.
The dongle has a collection of numbers: TP-Link model: Archer T2U; IC: 8853A-T2U, FCC ID: TE7T2UV3, but no other numbers.
On 'inxi -Fx2', I got:

Device-2: TP-Link 802.11ac WLAN Adapter type: USB driver: usb-network bus ID: 1-2:6

So I know it sees the dongle, but attempts at setting up a connection fail completely.
I tried to compile a driver from the last installation for that device, but './dkms-install.sh' was not present.
The kernel is 5.4.0-81-generic.

Without some technical information, we can’t help you. Please post an inxi -Fxpmzr report. This will give us a concise overview of your hardware and how Mint sees it per  How to get help .

Here is how to generate the report and post it:
Open a terminal window (Ctrl-Alt-t). Make it fullscreen to avoid unneeded linebreaks or chopped lines. Copy the following code and paste into the terminal (Ctrl-Shft-V) then hit Enter/Return:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxpmrz
exactly as it has been typed here.

Go to Edit, Select All, and then Copy, come back here, click on reply then code tags, </>, and then paste.
The results will help us to help you.

Thanks for your reply. I've tried several potential solutions on this issue, but none has worked. The numbers about the hardware don't match anything I have read.
Here is the result for

Code: Select all

Try to use : "sudo make dkms_install" instead of "sudo: ./dkms-install.sh"
