Hardware inst. problems, as usual!

Postby lordiaco » Sat Mar 08, 2008 6:00 am

Hi everybody, "Mint is easy like 1-2-3"! What a joke! I still have Mint 3.1 without possibilities to print on a Lexmark X 1190, have no sound on TV Time with my PCMCI KWORLD NB-TV 100 capture TV card, can't configure my web camera, when anyway some good Windows Skype-alike never existed for Linux. And i'm thinking to change to "Freespire 2", might be better solution even if all of them use same Debian/Ubuntu heart that's ticking and none is close to Windows or Leopard. Enough about bad sides, is anybody who can give me some advice how to make those things working, otherwise have a DELL Latitude D600 with well working Windows, but an extra HD with Mint 3.1 for surfing and mailing only, nothing else is working as i said. Help, Please
Regards fr Michail

1. Lexmark has insanely poor Linux support. Ask Lexmark to improve their Linux support.
2. Can you rephrase your question a bit? What is it you are trying to accomplish?
And finally, Freespire isn't that great, Mint is better, at least for me. But I think Freespire ship with some proprietary drivers, though.

Just getting into linux myself, installs are not always rough.I am currently running Mint,Ubuntu, open Suse ,and did have Freespire and SAbayon on one computer. Can not help much but can tell you my success is based on all the wonderful people in these forums. Also as far as Skype it is available in Ubuntu, not a wanna be but Skype.Might sound nuts trying all these distros but my learning curve is getting huge.Mint loaded for me just fine. Hope you resolve your problems.Hi to the mint folks, like your distro!
