Nvidia-settings Different to Xorg

Postby Andy Mack » Sun Mar 30, 2008 4:04 pm

I'm having bother with sidux and checked xorg of mint and sidux to see the difference and noticed Mint Xorg.conf reports depth as 16 Resolution as 1280x1280 whereas nvidia-settings reports depth as 24 Resolution as 1280x800.

1280x800 is what it should be but i'm not sure if my setup is right now.

Thanks
Andy

You can't miss the difference between 1208x1280 and 1280x800 - I'm not quite happy with nvidia settings
Check the tutorial section for a sticky about making nvidia settings sticky.
It wont hurt to change xorg.conf accordingly but I may miss your real point

I didn't realise because nvidia-settings reports 1280x800, Preferences/Screen Resolution reports 1280x800 and so does Administration/Screens and Graphics.
I never checked Xorg after installing my driver and seeing 1280x800 shown. I'd assume if 3 show up correctly so should the 4th

Odd - but it seems that xorg.conf has been side stepped
To be sure - /etc/X11/xorg.conf ?
There may be some other xorg.conf that takes over under certain circumstanses - haven't "heard of it" for quite some time now...

Yeah /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

xorg.conf.backup exactly the same
