Dell Inspiron 1420, Creative Zen 4 GB MP3 Player solved

Postby twiztr » Sat Apr 12, 2008 6:40 am

I set my friend up with Linux Mint Daryna for her new Inspiron, since she couldn't stand Vista. She likes everything with it so far, and everything works, but she can't figure out how to get her Zen media player to work, and I was wondering if any of you guys have a Zen, and could help?

We found a guide online, but she couldn't get it to work.

Thanks in advance! :D

I immediately found a probable solution. This is for Gutsy, but will work on Daryna

You need to be a little behind your first day on Linux for it, but it should not be hard to follow.
I say this because it involves compiling and creating a symlink - sounds scary?
My advice - to my self and others is to go through it slowly and carefully, first read and then act :)

I use Gnomad2 on my Zen V+, it's in the repositories. http://gnomad2.sourceforge.net/

Ah yes, Gnomad try that first, but that is not for all versions of Zen as far as I've found

Thanks everyone. I've directed her to the first one (she tried Gnomad2 already), and I will keep my fingers crossed. If it doesn't work, I'm going to have to take a two hour trip to her house to set it up for her.

Thank again! :D
