So.. I Have an Asus u36SD with 120 GB SSD, 8GB Ram and core i5; when I close the lid and then open it to come back from stand-by I get a black screen with a NON-blinking text cursor. Mouse and keyboard don't function, ctrl+alt+f1 doesnt work, and alt+ptint+k doesnt work. I originally thought it was my swap space not being big enough so I changed it to 12GB with should be more than sufficient. I have look in the forums here and in Ubuntu and couldn't find anything with the same problems, although some close. any suggestions would help, I am just tired of rebooting every time I close the lid.
If this is the wrong place for this question let me know

I had this same problem too. I followed the instructions at http://thecodecentral.com/2011/01/18/fi ... rking-bug/ Literally the second google result for "suspend not working ubuntu".

Have you looked at the log to see if there's anything useful there?
