No sound for my new speakers

Postby ameyjah » Mon Apr 21, 2008 7:54 am

I have installed Darya last month and was using my basic set of 2 speakers. But today, I installed my new 2.1 Intex Speakers and got no sound from them. So here is what I did?

1) Firstly I checked my speaker condition on XP and they were working properly.
2) So I just plugged my speaker cpu input pin a bit
3) To my surprise, I got sound from my left speaker and main amplifier (.1 in 2.1)
4) At present, I am getting no sound from Right Speaker. But in Xp with my audio plug fully inserted, I am getting good sound from all 3 speakers.

Can you quote the exact problem. If you need any details please tell me the command and I will post revalent information. In case of drivers, please tell me how to get latest drivers. I have DG 965 RY Motherboard and I am using the mobo' sound.

update 13/ June
Got my sound back. Installed OSS and removed ALSA.

Which version of Mint are you using?
Main (Gnome), KDE, XFCE, Fluxbox, Debian...
I had issues under both Gnome and KDE, with different solutions...

So I just plugged my speaker cpu input pin a bit

Sorry mate but that's utter nonsense - what did you do?

hey what's wrong with that may be I could not express my action correctly

while my audio pin is fully inserted, I can not hear any sound from all three speakers

So I plugged out my audio pin and inserted it again partially (3/4). Now I am getting sound only in one speaker (left) and one amplifier. But no sound in right speaker.

This part
speaker cpu input

cpu is the processor and if you poked something into it then your computer is stone dead...
Please post the output of lspci in a terminal
This may have to do with the sound chip

hi ,the solution is not so difficult ,just follow the steps.

1. double click on the volume icon this will show a window with title volume control and your mixer name .
2.check that any control is not mute ,increase all the volumes.
3.then click on edit button on the menu bar ->preferences-.> tick out- surround ,-center -,side- front,pc speaker and pcm, raise the volume to full. be careful to note that it is not muted...

i think this will work,............best of luck, post reply if it works......
