Acer Extensa 5220 & 56K-Modem

Postby ast64 » Fri May 09, 2008 11:14 am

Hi,

I've made a fresh install of Linux Mint Daryna on my Acer Notebook, which runs Debian Etch as well and I'm really enthusiastic about it! Things seem to work very well so far. I installed the Linuxant-Driver for the builtin modem with the cnxtinstall.run-Shellscript as recommended. But now my machine fails to boot. Some issue when loading kernel modules, i think. Looks like I have to reinstall... :(

Anybody here who has some experience with the installation of this driver on this particular machine?

Or is there anybody who can recommend me a a USB-Modem, which will work out-of-the-box?

Greetings from Germany,
ast64

PS: Sorry for my bad english

Thanks Husse,

but it's not the wireless making problems, it's the oldschool 56K-analog-modem.

it's the oldschool 56K-analog-modem.

Oops!
Post the result of lspci (in a terminal) and use the Code option when you paste
I don't promise anything, but I might find something out when I see what you have (provided the modem works)

Is it external? - No a notebook :)
Well lets see what lsusb gives
Some notebooks have internal components hooked up to USB
OH and if you do find it there google for the bus id you find - that gives surprisingly good results
