rt3290 driver prevents suspend

Post by graeme »

I had a problem getting wifi working on my HP Probook 4540s with Mint 14.1 Cinnamon. I tried a number of things but what eventually worked was downloading, compiling and installing the rt3290sta driver from the the Mediatek site http://www.mediatek.com/_en/07_download ... hp?sn=5033

Wifi now works fine but I cannot suspend unless I first disconnect the wifi (i.e. from network manager) then turn off the wifi and bluetooth with the hardware button.

Otherwise it immediately wakes up again.

I think this works in Ubuntu 2013.4, so whould be fixed in Mint 15, but suspend/resume is important to me, so I would really appreciate help in fixing it now.

Confirmed that wifi works in Ubuntu 2013.4, but bluetooth does not.

As suggested in the Ubuntu forums using this driver should solve it, but I have not tried that yet.
