I have an older HP DV6000 laptop that I have tried to install Linux Mint 16 Petra both 32 and 64 bit versions on. Hard drvie is clean with no other OPs on it. I can run both 32 and 64 bit versions on Cinnamon Mint fine from a USB flash drive with no problems, but if I install to hard drive I have 2 problems with both installations. 1st problem is this error: "Running in software rendering mode Cinnamon is currently running without hardware acceleration and as a result, you may observe much higher that normal CPU usage. 2nd my Synatics touch pad will not work and I can't get a usb mouse to work either so I have not way of navigating the OS.
Here are specs for the Laptop:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T5200
Screen: 15.4" LG Phillips “LPL” WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280 x 800)
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce Go 7400, 128 MB Dedicated + 128 MB Shared
RAM: 2GB 667MHZ DDR2 SDRAM
Wireless: Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11 a/b/g + Bluetooth
Synatics Touchpad.
Anyone have any ideas how I can use the USB Linux Mint to fix the problems on the hard drive install?

Re: Video Hardware Accleration and Synatics Touchpad Problem
I believe with laptops (and desktops too) the current Nvidia 3d graphics drivers supports back to the Nvidia 8000 series graphics. I think the Grforce Go 7 / 7000 series (and desktop Geforce 6/7) Nvidia graphics like yours requires the legacy Nvidia drivers.
Latest legacy 64 bit Linux driver.
