I am going to build my own pc and want to use Mint 17 (when it comes out) as the host OS and then virtualise Windows 7 and XP (for tech support use).
mobo here:http://www.gigabyte.com/products/produc ... id=4867#sp
The pc I have my eye on has this mobo as it's basis, no OS or extra cards. Anyone think it would be a good choice?? All suggestions appreciated. I am on a tight(ish) budget of around £350/€450 and the pc is around that price.

Re: This Motherboard OK?
The Gigabyte GA-H81M-HD2 board does get good reviews. It is intended for the home media center computer market and is quite a bit cheaper than the other generation 4 boards.
H81 - home media computer
H87 - home entertainment / home office computer
B85 - business computer
Z87 - gaming computer
For most home use I think it should be fine. That board does get good reviews on New Egg and I don't know of any problems with it.
I don't know the prices in the UK but that computer looks like it has about the minimum components to run the latest Core i3, which may not be bad.
I like the new Gigabyte boards and I built a new one in November 2013.
You might check the H87 Gigabyte boards and computers. The Core i3 is a good choice in your price range.
