Scanner Driver for Epson Stylus DX7000f

Postby RedKernel » Tue Apr 29, 2014 7:06 am

Hello, i'm new at Linux Mint, I have Mint 16 mate desktop. So far i like it very much and had no problems until now with my printer Epson Stylus DX7000f. The printer is working fine, the installation was automatic. But i can't make the scanner work. I install xsane but still no scanner can't be found. The site no longer give driver support and the Epson support page at ... ch/?OSC=LX only has the printer driver not the scanner driver. All the drivers i found are only for the printer. Need your help.

Have you tried the simplescan program?

Install with this command in a terminal -
sudo apt-get install simplescan
Mint 18.2 Cinnamon, Quad core AMD A8-3870 with Radeon HD Graphics 6550D, 8GB DDR3, Ralink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI
Linux Linx 2017

If you check on the listing of your device in SANE: (Scanner Access Now Easy):

it describes your device as unsupported...................sort of strange as seemingly similar devices are supported...........there are muttering about maybe the snapscan backend might help...and so one needs to work out if it is already in sane..

one assumes your version of mint has the latest sane-backends installed; there is an package libsane-extras that may contain more goodies that might help you; I agree Epson don't offer a driver for you;

commands folks try are

scanimage -L

and repeated with the sudo command in front of them; limited time now; will check back later
