Mirroring screen image to TV?

Post by Armstrong » Tue Jun 17, 2014 10:23 am

Recently, I acquired a Netgear Push2TV (PTV3000) device that allows me to mirror the image from my KindleFire HDX 7 to my television screen. Personally, I think this is a nifty application. I would like to do the same with my laptop (its screen image mirrored to my TV). The Netgear product supports most Windows and Android platforms. but not Linux. Is there a work around for this, and, if not, is there some hardware available that does the same with Linux? Thanks for any help.
Slainte,

There is. Once you connect your PC to the TV, go to "System Settings" and click on "Display" (settings may differ between flavors). There is a check-box there that will enable mirror display.
Home is where the Wi-Fi is.

Linux does not yet have official support for Miracast related sending or receiving. However a project is underway (MiracleCast) to develop this for Linux systems. Be aware that it does require hardware components that support Miracast as well. It's not all software.

While it doesn't do desktop mirroring, the Google Chromecast is an inexpensive method to get content streamed from your laptop to the big screen.

Thanks to all! Mint 16 KDE doesn't present me with much in the way of options in Manage and Configure Monitors and Displays. On the other hand, I can wait for the MiracleCast project to come to fruition.
Again, thanks for the info.

Hi, I installed this https://github.com/albfan/miraclecast, but after running the Autotools, I'm not sure what to do?
My machine specs:

2 x Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G850 @ 2.90GHz

ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series (It's the 5770 card)
