Card readers

Postby dnmint » Fri Sep 26, 2008 2:33 am

My compaq Pressario PC has 4 built in card readers ( apart from 4 usb ports). Mint in Comuter recognises the USB ports but not the card readers. possibly the drivers need to be loaded ( I thought this should happen 'out of box').
Pls advise as to how I can have the card readers recognised in Mint.
Thank you

Before you can even start thinking of which modules are required you are going to have to find out the make and model of the card readers ... and what type they are.

Open a terminal and enter the following commands :

Code: Select all

sudo lshw

This should give you the necessary information which then should allow you to search for information on which modules are required.

Does anything happen when you insert a card? Any kind of error, or is it quiet?

Post the output of dmesg. After inserting the card run:

Code: Select all

dmesg |tail -25
