Realtek Wifi/Bluetooth RTL8723BE

Post by oreo »

I recently installed Linux Mint 17 with Cinnamon desktop. My laptop has the realtek wifi RTL8723BE which did not work out of the box. I was able to get the wifi working by using the driver from www.github.com/lwfinger/rtl8723be(used an older version since I am on kernel 3.13 and not 3.14. However the bluetooth still does not work. when I do hciconfig -a, I see the device and see that it is running, however I can find any bluetooth devices with hcitool scan nor can other device see me. Has anyone had any luck getting this bluetooth device to work?

Hi,

did you install:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install bluez-utils

Code: Select all

sudo /etc/init.d/bluez-utils restart
also make sure the switch is in the right position and check the bios to see if it is enabled (some units use the same switch for wifi and bluetooth or a different combination)
What laptop is it?

I installed blue-utilz but sudo /etc/init.d/bluez-util gave me a command not found error. I found no options for bluetooth in the bios nor does my computer have a toggle switch. It is a Hansung laptop which is a Korean brand.

if you are talking about the kernel you can download the 3 files on a usb and then execute it on your unit.
