Keyboard and mouse stop responding (SOLVED)

Post by ro55mo »

Hello

Over the last few weeks I have started having an intermitant fault where my keyboard and mouse stop responding.

My work around is pulling the usb cables out and using a different pair of ports but eventually the issue happens again. I have tried three different keyboards now and the same issue happens each time if I give it long enough. I know the computer is still running as I can ftps and ssh to it from other devices as well as seeing conky running in the corner of the screen.

Any ideas on how I should go about resolving this issue? Computer details and log below which shows when this issue happens and then me performing my work around.

*edit*

I see xhci_hcd is related to USB 3.0 which these devices were using this time, however the issue can happen whichever USB ports I use on the machine.

Just out of curosity I have detached my (non HP) printer

Polaris hp-config_usb_printer: hp-config_usb_printer[13959]: error: This is not a valid device

to see if it is the cause of the issue. And also my HP keyboard and returned to a Logitech keyboard.

Happy to report that this is nothing to do with my computer or Mint. The mouse was the culprit. Only got another one to test with today. No issues at all.
