installing Star Tech usb2vgae3 with linux mint

Post by glhallway » Thu Dec 25, 2014 12:38 pm

I have a Star Tech usb2vgae3 don't really need it but would like to try it out for multi display. It seems StarTech only offers Windows and Mac software for the thing. Does anyone know if it can be used with Mint 17.1? Like I said no biggie if I can't use it, I just want to play with the thing and will most likley hate it.

Plug it in and try it, if nothing else open a terminal window when it is plugged in and enter

Code: Select all

lsusb
to get the vendor and product id that will be in brackets [****:****]
You can use google to search for the vendor/product ID and linux to see if there are any issues/fixes
