Poor batterly life

Post by Dorea »

Hi

I just installed linux mint on my laptop because I bougth an SSD and didn't want to buy windows 7. But, my batterylife has gone from 2-3 hours at minimum, to 1,5 at the most. What can I do about it?

Also, very often the computer misinterpret when I click with the mouspad, and think I click the right mouse-button when I infact click the left. Why?

First, this should be in Hardware or similar. This isn't the best place for this topic.

Second, there are 2 topics here. You get better results with one thread per problem. They may be related but likely not.

Third, you'll need to supply a lot more info.

What mint release and desktop edition?

Need hardware specs too, and the computer make/model is not enough. Power problems are usually video card/driver related.

Paste into terminal and post results with

Code: Select all

 tags ...

lspci

... also ...

sudo lshw -c video

... and ...

for the little info given. To help with the power settings: https://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php?titl ... r_settings
You may need to read it all first, then adapt to you distro and hardware. TLP is not in the Mint distro.

You can get TLP doing this: http://www.webupd8.org/2013/04/improve- ... fe-in.html
-Dell Mini Inspiron 910 Netbook-Atom CPU-N270-1.60ghz; 16gbs mini ePCI PATA SSD
15GB RAM- 1gbs-(LinixMint-19.3: LMDE)

Hi

Thank's for your responds. I have made two new thread under hardware, one for each of the problems. Will check out the TLP.

There are various tweaks that you can apply to your laptop to save battery power, but many of them depend on the hardware, Linux distribution, some are outdated or too hard to apply for regular users and so on. TLP is an advanced power management command line tool for Linux that tries to apply these settings / tweaks for you automatically, depending on your Linux distribution and hardware.

Dorea, usually, entering 'inxi -Fxz' (without the quotes) in a terminal will give them all or most of the information about your system that they need.
