Lenovo Y50 - Turn off Touchpad

Post by nfld.republic » Thu Jan 15, 2015 8:02 pm

Hi Folks,

I reviewed the article http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=155527 which provides information to enable the Fn keystroke to enable/disable the touchpad. But this is for a U410 so it doesn't quite match.

Here is the information that I have:

cat /sys/class/dmi/id/sys_vendor
LENOVO
cat /sys/class/dmi/id/product_name
20378
(The /sys/class/dmi/id/product_version holds Lenovo Y50-70)

Code: Select all

sudo evtest
No device specified, trying to scan all of /dev/input/event*
Available devices:
/dev/input/event0:	Power Button
/dev/input/event1:	Sleep Button
/dev/input/event2:	Lid Switch
/dev/input/event3:	Power Button

So this makes me think that on the Lenovo Y50-70 the Fn+F6 key is f3 (but I could be wrong here :D )

I need some help with updating the /lib/udev/hwdb.d/60-keyboard.hwdb configuration. I *think* that I need a new section for the Lenovo Y50-70 configuration.

Hello !

So I also wanted this functionality to work.
Here is the solution for me :

Open a terminal,

Code: Select all

gksu pluma /lib/udev/hwdb.d/60-keyboard.hwdb
add this at the end of the Lenovo section :

Code: Select all

# Lenovo 20378
keyboard:dmi:bvn*:bvr*:svnLENOVO*:pn*20378*:pvr*
 KEYBOARD_KEY_f3=f21      # Fn+F6 (toggle touchpad)
Close and save. Run :

Code: Select all

sudo udevadm hwdb --update

Code: Select all

sudo reboot
And it should work...

Cheers !
