HP laserjet 1018

Post by siawacsh »

Hello, I am pretty sure this is a driver issue. Nevertheless it seemed more appropriate to post it under hardware.

I am having problems getting a HP 1018 laserjet printer to work with my Linux 17. I have already used this solution. to install the driver.

It installs without any errors. It also printed out one test page post installation. But does not print anything after that. I have experienced the same issue with same printer on another machine with Mint 17 on it.

I hope someone can help as this is relatively a critical issue.

Thanks

Hi,
Did you after the installing procedure 'replug' your printer?
Because I experienced the same thing but then I realized I forgot to replug my printer.
After that everything went o.k.

No, my printer had been connected all the along. When you say replug do you mean the USB cable or power?

So do you think I should uninstall and try again?

Cheers

No, I did 'unplug' and 'replug' the USB cable only. That, for me at least, did the job.
As I wrote earlier, I forgot to do that although it was mentioned by the HP site to do this after installing.

hplip package is easier to install via package management.

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install hplip
Remove printer and unplug the printer and plugin the printer so it should install itself automatically.

As you can see from below, i have already installed that.

Code: Select all

apt-get install hplip
