Transfering to a new computer

I am going to be getting a new computer. I was wondering if I could just take physically take the SDD out of my old computer and plug it in to the new computer and go, or do I have to do a new installation of Rebecca?

My new computer will have very little in common with the old computer in terms of hardware (it will be a PC; this is a laptop, different motherboard, graphics, etc).

Yep, it should work. I've done it before.
But it will only work if it's the only disk in the system.
With multiple disks it might required to alter the bootloader.
Just give it a try.

If it doesn't work, use the "save markings" in synaptic (or apt-) to get of list of your installed SW; then read after new install.

That sounds good, thank you! Another question about marking the packages... Is there an easy way to differentiate between the level 1-3 and the 4-5 updates? If I mark the packages, it doesn't discriminate. If not, I'll just list them by hand, and weed them out later, but I thought I'd ask.

Uninstall proprietary drivers.

Move the drive.

Re-install proprietary drivers.

You may have to do a GRUB repair. It's easy enough with a Mint Live CD.
