Gateway laptop Suspend/Wireless connection

Postby alnphx » Wed Nov 26, 2008 4:16 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm a new Mint user. I've dabbled with other distros over the past couple of years, but always end up going back to Windows for one reason or another, mostly due to hardware incompatibility.

I tried Elyssa and am very impressed with it. Such a user friendly, fast, stable system. I only have two problems with it, maybe someone can point me in the right direction to fix them.

1) My computer (Gateway M-153X Notebook) won't resume after Suspend mode, which I use quite a bit.

2) I installed my wireless network drivers using the Windows Wireless Drivers app that is included. It seemed to install the drivers properly, even advised the hardware is present, but when I try to connect to the wireless network, it times out and defaults back to the wired connection (which works fine).

Here are the specs:

When I look at the suspend issue (which I think most people don't have and at least not more people than in Windows :)) I get really confused as there is about as much talked about suspend to disk (hibernate) as suspend to RAM
Which do you use?
One common theme seems to be the driver for the Graphics card (nvidia or ATI)
Disconnect the wired connection and run

Code: Select all

sudo /usr/lib/linuxmint/mintWifi/

Post the result
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
