Screen unlocked after resuming suspension with button

Post by GuajardoMX » Thu May 28, 2015 6:44 pm

Hi.
I've noticed that when I suspend using the button, which in my case is the sequence [Fn]+F4, and resume the screen is not locked. I use Cinnamon but replaced the screensaver with Xscreensaver.

The screen locks properly when doing Switch User or suspending via the Power Button or the Log Out menu.

I've looked through /var/log/pm-suspend.log and nothing seems to be out of order. Any ideas?

In XFCE, I use settings > session and startup > advanced > lock screen before sleep. That may or may not work for suspend, but worth a try. Cinnamon should have some similar settings. You could also try the power manager if session and startup is not helpful.

I looked in Cinnamon Settings > Screen Locker and the "Lock the computer when put to sleep" box is ticked; however I replaced all the cinnamon screensaver commands with the apropriate commands of Xscreensaver.

I'll keep looking. Thanks.

Ah, the screen locker (screen saver?) is different from suspend or sleep. For instance (again in XFCE), I have settings > screensaver and settings > power manager, both of which mention sleep/suspend/hibernate.

I'm not sure what cinnamon setting you would want exactly, though screensaver won't be it.
