Compiling Kernel modules....

Postby Mrtpme » Fri Jan 09, 2009 5:53 pm

Pretty new to Linux and Linux Mint but have been running Ubuntu for a while and just shifted to Mint. I have a IMON VFD display which I am trying to get running in Linux Mint and found a tutorial at venky.vs but I need the Kernel source or headers to be able to make the driver for the VFD. Could somebody please tell me how I get the Linux headers or source installed on my system.

The headers are there already (at least if you've installed some restricted driver) - check in Synaptic for headers
You also need to install build essential - you find it in Synaptic
Maybe you are a bit to much newbie to go on doing this on your own, but if you can make a backup or can reinstall easily by all means go on - you'll learn a lot on the road
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
