Audio, Video Issues on tx2500

Post by brokenlex » Sat Jan 17, 2009 3:11 am

I recently installed linux mint on one of my older laptops (mx6445) to test it out, it worked flawlessly. 720p video playback was smooth without the cpu ever rising, all the driver works, everything worked like its supposed to be.

Amazed by how great it was, I decided to install it on my main machine, the tx2500 series from hp. I came across a few problems after installing:

Whenever I play a video, the media player flashes, and there is no audio (somewhat). The speaks beeps when I press the backspace button during login screen, but there is no audio coming from the speaker during video playback.

*I havent tested the video playback before installing the "restricted drivers", so im unsure if thats the case or not.

any help would be appreciated.

Here are my spects -
2.00 GHz AMD Turion X2 RM-70 Dual-Core Mobile Processor
ATI Radeon HD 3200 ... odeUrl=tru

The video bug has been confirmed: ... bug/293118

I think you can fix it by turning compiz off.
