New EDUP 802.11AC 1200M Dual Band USB wireless adapter issue

Post by b00nk »

Dear All,

I'm a newbee. Just bought a new wifi adaptor. It came with Linux drivers but I just can't seem to install it. How do I actually install a driver in linux mint 17.3?

Any expert help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

The CD includes driver for windows, Linux and mac. I tried installing windows but it gives me a error. For the Linux driver it doesn't give very good instructions to install the driver so I'm not sure how to do it. I've added a screenshot of what the linux driver folder includes.

Here is more info re: your EP-AC1601 with chipset MT7612U.
Seems as though the windows drivers work and the Linux drivers contain some code issues.

Juro w/ GitHub ordered the device from EDUP ( since most of us don't have STA devices anymore ) 4 days ago.

The link to his thread is: https://github.com/jurobystricky/Netgear-A6210/issues/2
Jump to the bottom of thread.

They will probably have the correct code to compile soon.

Another source for the driver is from EDUP but I wouldn't waste my time unless you contact them first.

Hi RMOutlaw, thank you for the information. I also saw that post while searching the web for help. After crawling through the web, I've managed to find the windows driver for the wireless adapter model EP-AC1609. Will try to see if I can get it working and will update here.

Thank you for your kind assistance.

Ok I manage to install the windows 7 driver for the EP-AC1609 driver. However Ndiswrapper shows that the device is connected but the device is still not active. There is no activity light on the device and i can't choose its MAC when trying to setup wifi connections. Worst still whenever I plug it in my other wifi device stops working....Any advice on what I need to do to get a device working in Linux Mint 17.3 after installing a windows wifi driver??

Help is really needed. Please see attached the Ndiswrapper screen shot on what it shows.

I have recently bought this usb wifi dongle with Mediatek MT7612U chipset and unfortunately faced with these problems. No matter what i tried, i couldn't install&activate it's driver.

I couldn't manage to compile the driver provided by EDUP. It's probably written for Kernel v2.x and it gives so many errors; http://www.szedup.com/support/driver-do ... 01-driver/

The driver provided by Mediatek looks like the identical copy of the one given by Edup, so i couldn't compile again! http://www.mediatek.com/en/downloads1/d ... s/mt7612u/

Only the driver at https://github.com/jurobystricky/Netgear-A6210/ gets installed without any errors but the usb wifi doesn't work despite it's successful installation. I can see the device getting activated when i use "lsusb" and "dmesg" commands but nothing happens in the network section.

There should be so many people who has devices with this chipset because i saw that Asus, Netgear, Sparklan, Edimax made usb wifi devices with it. It is such a shame that this 2 years old chipset doesn't get recognized by Linux Kernel automatically because i saw it's excellent performance in Windows with speedy data transfer and high signal capability. Win10 didn't recognize the device either but the Windows driver gets installed without any problem and it works flawlessly.

Did you guys ever manage to use this wifi dongle? If so, how? Can you please explain?

Btw i am using Linux Mint 18 with Kernel v4.4.0-36

I managed to make my dongle (edup AC600 802.11AC dual band) work by compiling from this git repo:

https://github.com/gnab/rtl8812au

Once compiled and loaded you should see it listed next to your network devices.

Im on kernel 4.13. mint 18.2
