Configure HP printer

Postby lexon » Fri Feb 06, 2009 11:48 pm

Hello All

I have a little issue with a HP 400 printer. Yes, it is old but still works very well using the LPT connection. I have four black cartridges that I would like to use up. Cheaper than using my color printer. It has always worked well with Linspire, Freespire, Ubuntu but not with Mint 6.
Below is a screenshot of where I am at with the configuration attempt.

I hate to waste the ink, it is expensive. Thanks.

The instructions suggested Windows XP or better, so I installed Linux :)

I was looking for a Mint based answer. I was hoping for a file donwload from Synaptic or Software Manager. Links always lead to more questions. The printer is probably to old for Mint 6. I am only a user, not a Linux techie. Never mind.

Perhaps try installling hplib-gui from synaptic and try using that, it's how I got my school network HP printer usable
