Boot from USB ASUS 1015E

Post by deleted »

Hi guys,
I just got a ASUS 1015E and I'm looking to re-image it with Linux. I cannot seem to get the correct BIOS settings to allow me to boot from USB.
I've created a USB with 32 bit Mint on it and it boots on another laptop, however it won't boot on the ASUS.
In the BIOS I have turned off Fast Boot and I have turned off Secure Boot. I see the USB stick available as a boot option (and as a boot override option).
I've tried 2 USB sticks (a 4 GB and a 16 GB) both partitioned and formatted @ 3 GB, but still the ASUS isn't happy. Is there something else I missed?
Thanks.

Is your USB flash drive USB 2.0 or USB 3.0? 3.0 might give you better results.
I have had problems with 2.0 not booting.
Mint 18.2 Cinnamon, Quad core AMD A8-3870 with Radeon HD Graphics 6550D, 8GB DDR3, Ralink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI
Linux Linx 2018

The key was to turn Fast Boot off in Windows (in the Power Options)
