Mic not working in Asus F552L laptop

Hi, I'm running Mint 17.3 (3.19.0-32-generic #37~14.04.1-Ubuntu 64 bit) in my Asus F552L laptop.
I have realized that the mic isn't working propoerly: No sound is captured and no sound activity is being showen in the VU meters.
The mic is apparently configured in some way so I can see the internal mic as the input source in sound settings. The microphone works ok in windows 10, by the way.
I have tried several methods I've found in this and other forums: uninstalling/installing alsa-base and alsamixer, pavucontrol,... Yet no result, no sound detected by the mic.

Please help! Since I need to use hangouts/skype for my job, I'll have to switch to windows or other OS if I can't get the mic to work... :S

There seems to be an epidemic of that. Check this thread. You can install and try audacity. It has the list of all audio inputs. See if you can record your voice on any channel. You can always try to update to the latest kernel to see if that improve. I am running 4.4.0.22 with no issues.

Hi again, I did not find a solution in the related threads... t I just noticed (it's a shame i did not try that first) that if i boot from a mint livecd i get the mic working. This is my inxi -Fxz under the live cd in case it can help find a solution (i don't really know how to read the diferrences between twe two)
